The Foundation was represented by Chief Executive Michael Mail at the biennial conference of Future for Religious Heritage (FRH) hosted by the Galicia Jewish Museum in Krakow in Poland. FRH is a Brussels-based organisation working on the preservation of religious heritage across Europe, and Michael serves as a Trustee of the body.
The theme of the conference was ‘Religious Heritage in Transition: Challenges and Solutions’. A range of presentations on religious heritage projects were made addressing resilience, sustainability, digital futures and wellbeing.

Lucia Conte Aguilar addressed the conference on the medieval synagogue project in Hijar in Spain which the Foundation is a partner in. The Foundation was specifically thanked during the event for its contribution to FRH’s Religiana project which is developing a comprehensive European religious heritage database.
Beyond the presentations, there were tours of religious heritage sites in Krakow including the 16th century Remu synagogue in the historic Jewish district of Kazimierz.

Networking is an important feature of such events with heritage professionals having the opportunity to meet colleagues throughout Europe, sharing approaches and issues, and exploring possible future collaborations.
