Marilyn Scott

Marilyn has worked in museums, galleries and heritage attractions for over 30 years. She has considerable experience in consulting and her areas of specialism include fundraising, income generation and sustainability, strategic and business planning.

She has extensive experience of managing independent organisations within a Trust framework and works with Trustees to improve and enhance governance. Recent projects include Bevis Marks Synagogue, St Mary’s Walthamstow, Cranleigh Heritage Trust and Middle St Synagogue in Brighton.

She was formerly Director of the award winning Lightbox in Woking Surrey, winner of The Art Fund Prize. She led The Lightbox from feasibility study to opening of the building, having raised £7.2m for the construction and fit out.

Marilyn has also worked in national museums, at the V&A and Science Museum and for The National Trust. As a consultant for the Heritage Fund for over 20 years, she supported the development and delivery of activity, business and interpretation plans.

She is a Trustee of Brooklands Museum, West Horsley Place and The Weald and Downland Living Museum.
